Another factor is where you live because of each locations weather conditions. But my suggestion is water it every day and if it dries out just give it some more water. I suggest not soaking the plants like that, I suggest just watering it with a watering can and letting it drain. Most trees don't like the soil too damp especially Fukien Teas.
Does the tree you own have small needles because then it is probably a Juniperus procumbens 'nana' and likes to be dry sometimes also it likes full sunlight.
If the tree has darker green leaves like this
And has little white flowers and red berries then it is a fukien tea. Keep the soil moist but not soaking. Give it sun and don't let it go outside during extremly cold weather.
If non of these choices are your tree then send a picture and some one will be able to identify it.
