Some Advice Please? 2008/06/29 08:13
Hello all, I am new to this forum and have been doing bonsai off and on over the last several years. I am getting back into my favorite hobby again and I want to build up my collection. I currently only have a Chinese Elm (Ikea 9.99) in a training pot and it is doing well.
I want to add to my collection and have been looking around my house at some possible candidates. I have come across an American Elm, two Maples, and a Honeylocust that are all about 2 inches in diameter at the base of the trunk. These are a dime a dozen around my house but I will be doing some construction on a retaining wall where these little gems are at.
Should I:
A: Not do anything because they are a dime a dozen around my house? B: Move them to training pot and hope for the best since it is summer? C: Trunk chop them and wait until right before construction to move them to training pots?
Thank you in advance for the help and advice.
George
