Most trees with reduced leaves will revert back to its original size after going through the Winter months. As Spring approaches, trim all the leaves off the tree, and as new leaves begin to appear it is advisable to trim the branches back, leaving two leaves per branch, then as the new branches begin to grow, allow at least six leaves to emerge (per branch) then trim again leaving two leaves per branch.
By following this method your tree will begin to look fuller and by trimming the branches as often as possible, the leaves that are left on the tree after each trimming, will stop growing, allowing for more branch growth. Thus, you should experience smaller leaves.
