Wiring
2006/08/03 19:39 Hey guys,

I am new to the bonsai world, although i have read plenty of books I still can not find this answer anywhere.

My juniper, I am trying to get the branches to grow higher to form more of a canopy affect. So instead of wiring around the actual branches I went ahead and proped the branches up with a hard wire from underneath.

Will this work, if so how long before i can remove the wire that is proping up the branchs???

I am going to try and place a picture on this forum so that you can see what I am talking about.

Thanks guys,

Wiring, strapping bamboo between the branches, or even hanging Mama San from the branches will help alter the shape of your Bonsai.

However, I would recommend you learn to wire correctly, this will allow you the freedom to shape your tree to your desired form.

Contact your local Bonsai Society, visit them and ask away, you will find more people than you can imagin that would be tooo happy to help.

Have a great Bonsai day,
Merv
