Re:New to the Bonsai "way 2005/09/28 01:08
I don't know too much about bonsai, but I've managed to pick up a few things while working with Merv. One of the first things he'll tell you is that Junipers are not really a beginner's bonsai. They can't get too much water or they'll rot, if they don't get enough sun, they rot. And on the other hand, it's not too hard to dry them out.
Not to frighten you or anything, just be prepared for a rough time. ;) Hopefully spider mites won't be a big issue. The soap water won't hurt if you do decide on using that treatment. As far as growing, I'd say it's safe to give it full sun, watering every day or partial sun, watering every other day.
BTW, is the dirt/soil glued into the bottom of the pot?
