Leaves falling off ......
2006/12/22 19:11 Hello all.

I recently brought this bonsai tree from Ikea, No idea what kind of tree this is would apreciate it if anyone could tell me.

The leaves constantly keep fallling off it has less than half the leaves it had when i brought it, would apreciate if any one knows why this is? i hoped its because its the winter season and tree's shed there leaves. But i fear its just becuase i dont know how to look after the plant.

Am i watering it enough as the leaves are not only falling off but also have some black spot or paches on them, can some one please tell me what i am doing wrong.!

Thanks in advance for any advice

Re:Leaves falling off ...
2006/12/28 21:17 Hello leaves falling off, first of all it looks like your bonsai is sitting in an unlif hallway and also in a tray filled with water..WOW, this is causing the fungal rust that you see appearing on the leaves and will also encourage the plant to drop leaves.
It looks like an impoted Ficus, I cannot tell which ficus variety It should be in a well lit area preferably outdoors. Allow it to almost dry out between watering and it is necessary for you to spray it with a fungicide. in fact if you do not have a Fungicide on hand...mix a tablespoon of Skim milk with 16ozs of water and saturate the plant with this mixture and allow to dry on allleaf surfaces..duplicate this rince method evry week for 4 applications. Please let me know how your bonsai is doing within 2-3 weeks.
